CURRENT EMT CERTIFICATION
You must hold a current EMT or AEMT certification before entering the paramedic program.
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA / GED
You must hold a high school diploma or recognized equivalent.
AGE REQUIREMENT
You must be at least 18 years old before beginning clinical or field rotations.

THE CURRICULUM
BUILT FOR THE MEDIC YOU'LL NEED TO BE.
Paramedic education goes beyond memorizing protocols. You’ll learn to assess complex patients, recognize what matters, make sound clinical decisions, and perform when the situation demands it.
CARDIOLOGY
ECG interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition, cardiovascular emergencies, and resuscitation.
AIRWAY + VENTILATION
Airway assessment, oxygenation, ventilation, advanced airway management, and difficult airway decision-making.
PHARMACOLOGY
Medication principles, calculations, administration, and pharmacologic treatment of emergency conditions.
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
Assessment and management of neurologic, respiratory, endocrine, toxicologic, and other medical emergencies.
TRAUMA
Trauma assessment, hemorrhage control, shock management, resuscitation, and time-critical patient care.
PEDIATRICS + OB
Assessment and management of pediatric patients, pregnancy-related emergencies, labor, and delivery.
EMS OPERATIONS
Scene management, communications, incident operations, special situations, and the paramedic’s role within EMS systems.
CLINICAL DECISION-MAKING
Build differential diagnoses, recognize high-risk presentations, prioritize treatment, and make defensible patient-care decisions.
THE GOAL ISN'T SIMPLY TO KNOW WHAT TO DO.
It’s to understand why you’re doing it and recognize when the patient in front of you doesn’t fit neatly into an algorithm.

LET'S CLEAR A FEW THINGS UP.
Paramedic school is a major commitment. Here are the answers to some of the questions you should ask before deciding if this program is right for you.
Do I need to be an EMT before I apply?
You must hold current EMT or AEMT certification to enter the paramedic program. You will also need to meet the program’s other admissions requirements before enrollment is finalized.
Can I work while attending the program?
Yes, but plan carefully. Classroom attendance is required, and clinical and field experiences occur outside scheduled class hours. Your work schedule does not replace or modify program attendance, clinical, or field requirements.
What is the class schedule?
Classes are scheduled Monday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with class on every other Saturday. The program is not self-paced, and students are expected to attend scheduled instructional days.
When do clinical and field rotations occur?
Clinical and field experiences are completed outside regular classroom hours and may include weekdays, nights, weekends, and other available shifts. Students submit scheduling availability, but all required clinical and field experiences must be completed within established program timelines.
What happens if I miss class?
Regular attendance is required. The program maintains specific policies regarding absences, tardiness, missed instructional time, and approved contingencies. Complete attendance requirements are provided in the Student Handbook and reviewed during onboarding.
Does graduating from the program automatically make me a paramedic?
No. Successful program completion is one step in the certification process. Graduates must meet applicable National Registry and Texas certification requirements before practicing as a certified or licensed paramedic.
What happens after I submit my application?
We review your application and required admissions materials to confirm eligibility for the cohort. Accepted applicants receive instructions for securing their seat and completing required onboarding before Day One.
